let’s be real- being a mom is already a full-time job. Some days, I feel like I don’t even have time to finish my tea before someone needs me. And yet, deep inside, I still have this fire to grow, to learn, to build something of my own.
But here’s the truth: trying to chase growth while running a home and raising kids can feel overwhelming. For a long time, I thought I needed hours of quiet for studying. I believed I needed the perfect planner to map everything out. what I’ve learned is this: growth doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from creating a system that fits into your real, messy life.
This is the simple growth system I use to keep learning- without losing my mind.
1.Choosing One Focus At A Time.
I used to try to learn everything at once- blogging, social media, SEO, affiliate marketing. the result? Overwhelmed, frustration and honestly nothing got done.
Now, I pick one thing per month to focus on. For Example:
July: Pinterest basics.
August: Blog writing rhythm.
September: Affiliate marketing.
It’s amazing how much calmer it feels when your brain only has to hold onto one thing. Moms already multitask a million ways every day- We don’t need to add more chaos to our learning.
Tip: Write your focus on a sticky note and put it on your fridge or laptop. Every time you’re tempted to jump to something else, look at that note and come back.
2. Learning In Small, Consistent Bites
Here’s my secret: I don’t spend hours learning. Most of my learning happens in the cracks of my day.
- 15 minutes of a podcast while folding laundry.
- A quick YouTube tutorial after kids are in bed.
- Reading one chapter of a book during nap time.
It doesn’t sound like much, but it adds up. The key is not intensity but consistency. Even if I learn one small thing each day, it becomes seven new things by the end of the week.
So, if you’re waiting for a big block of time- you might wait forever. take the 10 minutes you do have and start there
3. Using The Right Resources (Not All Of Them).
Raise your hand if you’ve signed up for too many free guides. You might have bought courses you never opened. Or, perhaps you have a bookshelf full of unread books.
I’ve been there. The truth is, too many resources= overwhelm. That’s why I made a rule for myself: no more than 2 learning resources at a time ( one book+ one course or one podcast + one blog).
Right now, I’m loving:
- Atomic Habits by James Clear (https://amzn.to/42tBL3k)
- Canva pro
- A podcast on blogging I listen to while cooking dinner
Having fewer resources makes it easier to actually finish – and apply-what I learn.
4. Turning Learning Into Action
This part is HUGE. For a long time, I kept learning and learning but never doing. That just left me feeling like I was ” falling behind”.
Now, I have a rule: every time I learn something, I act on it immediately.
- If I listen to a podcast on Pinterest, I test out one new pin strategy that same day.
- If I read a chapter on productivity, I try changing one small habit in my routine.
Action turns knowledge into growth. And it feels so much better to see results (even small ones) than to just have a brain full of information.
5. Giving Yourself Grace
This Might be the most important part.
There are days when I don’t learn anything. Days when my energy is gone. Days when being a “mom” is all I can handle. And that’s okay.
Growth as mompreneur isn’t about being perfect or fast- it’s about showing up again and again. Even 20 minutes a day adds up. Even messy, half finished note in your journal is progress.
Don’t beat yourself up for not learning like someone with 8 free hours a day. Your journey is different. And honestly? It’s more powerful because you’re building it while raising little humans. That’s no small thing.
So no, I don’t have endless hours to study. But I do have a system that works in my messy, busy, beautiful life:
- one focus at a time
- small, consistent learning bites
- only the right resources
- action> perfection
- lots of grace
If you’re a mom trying to grow, I want you to know this- you’re not behind. you’re building something brick by brick and that’s what lasts.
✨What’s one thing you’re learning right now? Share it in the comments- I’d love to cheer on you.
